History and Trivia

  • At this location: This space was first used in 1962 when the Tahitian Terrace restaurant opened. Along with the meal there was a presentation of a Polynesian themed show featuring music and dancing. The restaurant lasted more than 30 years before closing on April 17, 1993, to be replaced by Aladdin's Oasis.

Opening July 2, 1993, Aladdin's Oasis was an attempt to present the same kind of experience while capitalizing on the success of the recent Aladdin movie. During a several course meal diners would be entertained with song, dance, and character skits from the movie. This combination only lasted through the summer of 1994, however. When the restaraunt reopened in the summer of 1995 the stage was still present but nobody was performing. In 1996, the restaurant didn't even open, and when the space finally reopened in 1997 it was in it's current form with just a show and no longer serving food.
  • The Attraction's History: The show has been through a number of minor and major changes over its years of production. For most of its run it was show that included significant elements of improvisation by the actors playing Kazoo/Genie and Barker Bob (now named Kazeem). Eventually, however, the improvisational elements were removed from the show.
