History and Trivia

  • At this location: Pete's Body Shop and part of the Tomorrowland Speedway occupied this space before the construction of the New Fantasyland expansion. Dumbo the Flying Elephant opened here in 2012.
  • The Attraction's History: Though Dumbo the Flying Elephant has been part of the Magic Kingdom since 1971, the attraction has undergone two major changes. In 1993 the ride was closed and removed. An entirely new version of the attraction was installed, using modern equipment and controls, and upgrading capacity from 12 Dumbo ride vehicles to 16. The attraction was located behind Cinderella Castle from the park's opening in 1971 until early 2012, when it was moved to Storybook Circus and expanded to two spinners going in opposite directions with an interactive, air conditioned queue.
