Open/Close: Opens and closes with the park.

Wait Times: The show starts every 30 minutes. The courtyard seating area outside the front doors create a pretty good indicator. If you can get into the courtyard it is almost certain there will be room for you inside. It is rare for the line to be so long that you'd have to wait more than one show.

The front courtyard for the building housing the show has seating, access to the Tiki Juice Bar, a video from Dole playing on a screen, and several Polynesian gods that start coming to life a few minutes before show time and explain who they are. This courtyard area was included in the complete refurbishment of Enchanted Tiki Room in early 2005.

History and Trivia

  • At this location: Though Enchanted Tiki Room did not open until 1963, it was the first attraction in this location. We do not know if anything of significance was in this location prior to that.
  • The Attraction's History: Attractions like Jungle Cruise had prototypical forms of animatronics but Walt Disney was seeking an attraction that would make full use of advanced audio-animatronics. The earliest developed designs were for a tropical-themed restaurant in which animated birds and flowers would entertain diners. The restaurant idea eventually fell by the wayside but the singing birds and flowers remained. Robert and Richard Sherman wrote the music for the show, which opened in 1963.

Since then, the show has remained essentially unchanged, though enthusiasts constantly worry that the show will be given the "Under New Management" script now at Walt Disney World. Additional rumors surround adding Lilo & Stitch elements.

In recent years, the attraction became a symbol for people concerned about upkeep in the park, with many elements inside the show no longer working and years passing without exterior upkeep resulting in a shabby look. For the 2005 50th Anniversary celebration Enchanted Tiki Room was given a comprehensive refurbishment.
  • Other Trivia:
    • Your hosts: The four parrots who host the show are Jose, Fritz, Michael, and Pierre.
    • Sponsors: Though it is difficult to imagine a time before Dole Whip, Dole Pineapple was not always the sponsor for Enchanted Tiki Room. From 1964 to 1973 United Airlines sponsored the attraction.
    • Polynesian Gods: The gods in the courtyard are Maiu, Koro, Tongaroa-Ru, Hina Kaluna, Negendei, Rongo, Tongaroa, and Pele.
